The entire process runs across 5 main rounds and 2 special rounds. Special rounds are open to candidates from all over India — not just UP domicile students. If you miss the main rounds, special rounds are your second shot.
Who Is Eligible for UPTAC 2026?
Before you register, confirm you meet the eligibility criteria. UPTAC 2026 admits candidates through three entry exams:
- B.Tech (First Year): Valid score in JEE Main 2026
- B.Arch: Valid score in NATA 2026
- B.Tech / Other UG Courses via CUET route: Only candidates who selected AKTU during their CUET UG application are eligible
- B.Tech (Lateral Entry / Second Year): Diploma holders with relevant branch qualifications

UPTAC 2026 Registration Fee
The registration fee for UPTAC 2026 is ₹1,000 for all categories (General, OBC, SC, ST). This fee is non-refundable under any circumstance — even if you don't participate in choice filling or don't get a seat. Pay only through the official portal using:
- Net banking
- Debit card
- Credit card
There is also a separate seat confirmation fee payable after allotment: ₹20,000 for General/OBC candidates and ₹12,000 for SC/ST candidates. This is refundable if you withdraw in designated rounds. The ₹1,000 registration fee, however, is not.
How to Register for UPTAC 2026 — Step-by-Step
The registration is entirely online on the official UPTAC portal: uptac.samarth.edu.in. Here is the exact process:
- Step 1 – Visit the portal: Go to uptac.samarth.edu.in and click on 'New Candidate Registration'.
- Step 2 – Enter basic credentials: Provide your JEE Main 2026 application number (or CUET/NATA credentials), full name, mother's name, date of birth, and gender.

- Step 6 – Pay the registration fee: Pay ₹1,000 online. Keep the payment receipt — you'll need it for document verification.
- Step 7 – Submit and note your registration ID: After submission, save your registration confirmation. This ID is your key to all future steps.
Important: No corrections are allowed after the UPTAC 2026 registration form is submitted. Cross-check every field — especially your JEE Main application number, category, and date of birth — before hitting submit.
Document Verification — What Happens After Registration
Document verification runs from May 28 to June 20, 2026. A Central Document Verification Team (CDVT) reviews the uploaded files. Once verified, you receive a confirmation SMS and email. Without this confirmation, you cannot proceed to choice filling.

Choice Filling — Round 1 Starts June 22
Choice filling for Round 1 opens on June 22. This is where you select your preferred colleges and branches in order of preference. Seat Allotment — What Freeze, Float, and Slide Mean
Round 1 seat allotment comes out on June 27. After you see your allotted seat, you have three options:
- Freeze: Accept the allotted seat and stop participating in further rounds. Your seat is final.
- Float: Accept the current seat but remain eligible for automatic upgrade to a higher-preference option in the next round. If no better seat comes, the current one is retained.
- Slide: Accept the current seat but indicate willingness to move to a different branch in the same college if available in the next round.
Seat withdrawal is allowed in Rounds 2, 3, and 4 with a partial refund. The registration fee (₹1,000) is never refunded regardless of withdrawal timing. If you miss the reporting deadline after allotment without action, your seat gets cancelled.
UPTAC 2026 vs JOSAA — What's the Difference?
Many students with a good JEE Main rank ask whether to apply to UPTAC or wait for JOSAA. The short answer: do both. JOSAA counselling covers IITs, NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs. - Wrong JEE Main application number: Copy it directly from your JEE Main admit card. One digit off and you can't proceed.
- Category mismatch: If you claimed OBC/SC/ST, your certificate must match. Any discrepancy gets flagged at document verification.
