The institution traces its roots to Frazer Hospital, inaugurated on 9 November 1910 with 127 indoor beds. It was converted to Ronaldshay Medical School in 1921 and officially upgraded to Burdwan University Medical College in 1969. It was later renamed Burdwan Medical College and Hospital (BMC&H).
