Frequently Asked Questions

The attached Sagore Dutta Hospital has 500+ teaching beds with departments across all major specialities. OPD runs from 10 AM to 2 PM. Kamarhati ESI Hospital (adjacent) further expands clinical training. The hospital has a Blood Bank, a Fair Price Medicine Shop, a Liquid Oxygen Plant for surgical operations, and full diagnostic services.

CMSDH was established by the Government of West Bengal in 2010 by converting the historic Sagore Dutt Charitable Hospital and Dispensary – a philanthropic organization serving the poor peasants and industrial workers of Kamarhati. After an MCI inspection, the Letter of Permission was received on 30 June 2011 and the first MBBS batch commenced on 1 August 2011.

MBBS graduates must serve a compulsory 3-year rural service bond in West Bengal. If they fail to fulfil this, they must pay a penalty prescribed by the state government before NMC registration or PG enrolment is permitted. A discontinuation bond is also signed at the time of admission on Rs.100 stamp paper.

CMSDH hosts 'Asterica' – the annual college fest spanning 6 days including pre-fest events with performances by noted artists. 'Alfresco' is the freshers' welcome programme for new batches. Various clubs for arts, sports, social service, and academics are active throughout the year.
