GMERS Medical College and Hospital, Junagadh was established in 2015. The Central Government issued a Letter of Permission (LOP) by recommendation of MCI for establishment of the college under Bhakta Kavi Narsinh Mehta University (BKNMU), Junagadh, for the academic year 2015-16 with an initial intake of 150 MBBS students. The first MBBS batch commenced studies in the 2015-16 academic year. The intake was subsequently increased to 200 MBBS seats annually.

GMERS Junagadh offers 200 MBBS seats annually (85% State Quota – 170 seats; 15% NRI Quota – 30 seats). For postgraduate courses, the college offers 27 MD/MS seats across five disciplines: MD Anaesthesiology (7 seats), MD General Medicine (4 seats), MS General Surgery (4 seats), MS Obstetrics & Gynaecology (6 seats), and MD Pathology (6 seats). All PG seats are split 50% AIQ (via MCC) and 50% Gujarat State Quota (via ACPPGMEC).

The annual MBBS tuition fee at GMERS Junagadh is approximately INR 3,75,000 per year for the State/Government Quota, with a total of approximately INR 14,85,000 to INR 16,87,500 for 4.5 years of study (excluding hostel and mess charges). NRI Quota fees are as per ACPUGMEC norms and are higher. All fees are subject to revision by the fee regulatory authority; verify with the official ACPUGMEC notification each academic year.

After completing MBBS and the 1-year compulsory internship, graduates are required to complete 2 years of compulsory rural/government service as per Gujarat state policy. The financial penalty for non-compliance is INR 20,00,000 (INR 20 lakh). The internship stipend is approximately INR 18,000–28,000 per month as per GMERS norms.
