Yes. The National Medical Commission (NMC) granted recognition for 100 MBBS seats in 2022. The first batch of 100 students commenced classes on November 15, 2022. Previously, the college had its MCI accreditation withdrawn in 2017 due to infrastructure gaps, which were subsequently resolved by the Government of Kerala.
GMC Idukki has 100 MBBS seats per year — 85 under Kerala State Quota (via CEE Kerala) and 15 under All India Quota (via MCC). There is no management or NRI quota.
The college is located in Cheruthoni, near the Idukki Dam, in the Cardamom Hills of the Western Ghats. The campus is approximately 5 km from Cheruthoni town and 7 km from Painavu (district headquarters). Nearest major railway station is Kottayam (~110 km) and nearest airport is Cochin International Airport (~110 km).
As of 2025–26, GMC Idukki offers only the MBBS undergraduate programme. PG courses (MD/MS) have not yet been introduced. The college is still in its developmental phase, having commenced full MBBS batches only in 2022.
