GMC Kollam was established in 2017. It was originally built by the ESIC (Employees State Insurance Corporation) of India and later transferred to the Government of Kerala. It is the first government medical college in Kollam district.
The attached teaching hospital is a 500-bed multi-specialty tertiary care hospital with 10 modular operation theatres, ICU, CCU, Neonatal ICU, CSSD, and TSSU. Over 1,300 outpatients are seen daily. Super-specialty departments include Cardiology, Urology, Gastroenterology, and more.
GMC Kollam has 110 MBBS seats annually. 85% are allotted via Kerala CEE State Quota and 15% via MCC All India Quota.
