GMC Sheopur was inaugurated in 2024 under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme for new government medical colleges. It is one of four new government medical colleges recently established in Madhya Pradesh to expand medical education and healthcare in underserved regions.

GMC Sheopur is admitting its first MBBS batch from AY 2025-26 after receiving all necessary approvals and completing infrastructure requirements. The 100 MBBS seats have been included in the MP NEET-UG state quota for 2025-26.

GMC Sheopur has 100 MBBS seats. 15% (15 seats) are via MCC All India Quota and 85% (85 seats) via DME MP state quota. Being a government college, there is no management or NRI quota.

The District Hospital, Sheopur serves as the teaching hospital for GMC Sheopur. It currently operates with 285 teaching beds with approximately 150 additional beds under construction, providing 24x7 emergency services, OPD in multiple specialties, diagnostic labs, and radiology including CT scan.
