KVG stands for Dr. Kurunji Venkatramana Gowda — the visionary founder and Founder President of the Academy of Liberal Education (R), Sullia. He established the KVG Education Trust in Sullia, Dakshina Kannada, which now operates 14 institutions on a contiguous campus — one of the largest multi-disciplinary educational campuses in India. KVGMCH was established in 2002 as the medical college under this trust. Dr. Gowda's mission was to bring world-class education to the Western Ghats region and serve the rural communities of coastal Karnataka.
KVGMCH is a private medical college affiliated to RGUHS, Bengaluru, sponsored by the Academy of Liberal Education (R), Sullia. Admissions for all MBBS seats (Government, Management, NRI quota) are through KEA Karnataka. It is NOT a government college.
KVGMCH has 100 NMC-approved MBBS seats — smaller than most Karnataka private colleges (which typically have 150).
