KMC Warangal was founded on 23 July 1959 by the Warangal Regional Medical Education Society with support of then CM of AP Neelam Sanjiva Reddy and inaugurated by Union Health Minister P. Karmarkar. The permanent building was inaugurated by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1966. The entrance carries the immortal quote by District Collector Mohsin Bin Shabbir: 'The Earth sometimes bears gems and here is one.' It is one of India's oldest government medical colleges with 65+ years of uninterrupted medical education and 5,600+ MBBS graduates.
