Shri M. P. Shah Government Medical College (MPSMC), Jamnagar was established in 1955. The foundation stone was laid in January 1954 by Shri Digvijay Singh. It is one of the oldest government medical colleges in Gujarat, affiliated with Saurashtra University, Rajkot, and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

MP Shah Medical College is associated with the Guru Gobindsingh Government Hospital (GG Hospital), formerly known as Irwin Hospital. It is the second-largest hospital complex in Gujarat with a bed capacity of over 1,275, 50 inpatient wards, 10 operation theatres, and 24/7 emergency services. It is a major tertiary care and referral center for the Saurashtra-Kutch region.

The MBBS course fee at MP Shah Medical College is highly subsidized as it is a government institution. The annual tuition fee is approximately ₹25,000, making the total 5-year MBBS fee approximately ₹1.26 Lakhs. Additional university and exam fees may apply.
