NIT Delhi is ranked #65 in Engineering by NIRF 2025. In NIRF 2024 it was ranked #45 in Engineering. The institute was established only in 2010 and has shown consistent improvement in rankings over the years, reflecting its growing academic and research quality.

NIT Delhi has a vibrant student life through the Board of Student Activities (BOSA). Key clubs: Technical Club (tech events and hackathons), Google Developer Students Club (GDSC), IEEE NIT Delhi Student Branch, Literary Club, Photography and Design Club, Cultural Club, Sports Club (cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, badminton), Social Reform Club, and Startup NIT Delhi cell. Annual sports meet ZEAL is the flagship sports event. Hindi Cell and Anti-Ragging Cell also active on campus.

CSE (Computer Science) has the best placements at NIT Delhi — 100% placement rate in 2025, average Rs. 18.87 LPA, highest Rs. 52.5 LPA. AI & Data Science is the second most competitive and is growing rapidly. ECE also has strong placements with the highest package in 2024-25 being Rs. 58.5 LPA (highest in the institute), and VLSI Design specialization in M.Tech gets Rs. 18.85 LPA average. EEE had 85.71% placement rate with Rs. 30 LPA highest (2025).

For the General category under the Other State (OS) quota, the closing rank for B.Tech CSE at NIT Delhi was approximately 8,018 in JoSAA 2024 Round 5. For Home State (Delhi HS quota), it was ~10,950. In 2025, CSE OS closing rank was ~10,165 (Round 6). OBC-NCL HS closing rank for CSE was ~5,315. Aim for a JEE Main General rank under 8,000 (OS) or 10,000 (HS Delhi) for a safe chance in CSE.
