RIMS Raichur is a fully autonomous institution of the Government of Karnataka. There is NO Management or NRI quota — all 150 MBBS seats are filled through KEA (State Quota, 85%) and MCC (AIQ, 15%) based purely on NEET merit.

RIMS was established in 2007 by the Government of Karnataka with a mission to provide quality medical education and accessible healthcare to North Karnataka, particularly the historically underserved HK region.

RIMS is in Raichur — one of the 6 HK districts under Article 371(J). 70% of state quota MBBS seats are reserved for candidates domiciled in the HK region (Raichur, Kalaburagi, Bidar, Yadgir, Koppal, Ballari) with 7+ years of local study. Only ~30% of state quota is open to non-HK Karnataka candidates. Additionally, 8% of state quota in ALL other Karnataka government colleges outside the HK region are reserved for HK-region candidates. Candidates with HK + OBC + Telugu minority certificates can access multiple overlapping reservation categories.

PG specialties include: MD Pathology, MD Microbiology, MD Anatomy, MD Physiology, MD Biochemistry, MD Pharmacology, MD Community Medicine, MD Forensic Medicine, MD General Medicine, MS General Surgery, MS OBG, and Diploma programmes.
