The Government McGann Hospital — established in 1880 by a British administrator on a 70-acre campus — is SIMS's primary teaching hospital. Original hospital area: 31,340 sq.m. Serves as the primary referral centre for Shivamogga district. 24×7 Emergency and Trauma Care; ICUs (Medical, Surgical, Paediatric); Blood Bank; Radiology (CT, USG, X-ray); Central Labs. SIMS campus: 25 acres within Government McGann Hospital premises on NH-206 (Bengaluru–Honnavara National Highway), Shivamogga. Total college building: 2,23,838 sq.ft. across 4 floors. Total floor area (college + boys hostel + girls hostel + doctors' quarters): 34,488 sq.m. Academic facilities: very good spacious classrooms, lecture halls, examination hall (800 sq.m., 300-person capacity), demonstration rooms, fully-equipped clinical and non-clinical laboratories, museums, auditorium, gymnasium, common rooms. 398 experienced and well-educated teaching faculty.
