Yes. Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical College & Research Institute (SABVMCRI) was formerly known as Bowring & Lady Curzon Medical College & Research Institute (BLCMCRI). It was renamed in honour of former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The official government website (blcmcri.karnataka.gov.in) still carries the former name URL. Both names refer to the same institution established in 2019 in Shivajinagar, Bengaluru. Multiple aggregators continue to use both names interchangeably.

SABVMCRI is a fully autonomous government medical college under the Government of Karnataka. There is NO Management or NRI quota — all 150 MBBS seats are filled through KEA (State Quota, 85%) and MCC (AIQ, 15%) based purely on NEET merit.

The college was established in 2019, initially as Bowring & Lady Curzon Medical College. It is among Karnataka's newest government medical colleges. The first MBBS batch completed their internship in 2024-25. The college is in phased development for PG programmes.
