⚠️ NO. NMC withdrew the Letter of Permission (LoP) on January 6, 2026. SMVDIME cannot admit MBBS students for 2025-26 or beyond until NMC re-grants LoP. SMVDIME has reapplied for 2026-27 approval (depositing ~₹10 lakh NMC inspection fee).

NMC MARB conducted a surprise inspection on January 2, 2026 and found serious deficiencies: 39% faculty shortage, 65% SR/tutor shortage, OPD attendance of only 182 (required: 400), bed occupancy 45% (required: 80%), only 744 library books, only 2 functional OTs, and average 25 deliveries/month. LoP withdrawn under Section 28(7) of NMC Act 2019.

All 50 admitted students (44 Muslims, 5 Hindus, 1 Sikh) are being accommodated as supernumerary seats in other recognised J&K UT government medical colleges. CM Omar Abdullah assured no student will lose their MBBS seat. Both NMC and J&K government confirmed the relocation process.

Of the 50 NEET-merit seats, 42 (84%) were admitted to Muslim students, triggering protests by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Sangarsh Samiti (60 pro-RSS/BJP groups) who argued that the shrine – funded by Hindu devotees – should prioritise Hindu students. J&K CM Omar Abdullah and NC spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar stated admissions were purely NEET merit-based and constitutional.
