Frequently Asked Questions
ZMC offers 100 MBBS seats annually. The distribution is: 70% (70 seats) for State Quota — Mizoram, allocated by the Technical Wing, H&TE Department, Government of Mizoram; 15% (15 seats) for All India Quota (MCC); and 15% (15 seats) for NRI Quota. Candidates cannot apply directly to ZMC — all seats are allotted through MCC or H&TE Dept, Mizoram.
For All India Quota (General category), the NEET UG cutoff at ZMC is approximately 570–630 marks (varying annually). For Mizoram State Quota (ST category — the majority of Mizoram students), the cutoff is lower, approximately 400–500 marks. Since only 1 AIQ candidate was allotted a seat in some recent years, AIQ competition is very stiff and candidates need high NEET scores. Actual cutoffs vary annually.
Yes. ZMC was formally converted into a fully government-owned institution on 20 December 2024. Prior to this, it was a state-supported institution. It is now wholly administered by the Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Mizoram, with all associated government funding and oversight.
