MCC 2026: Revised Eligibility Criteria for NRI Quota Announced
Eligibility Criteria for NRI Quota
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced the revised eligibility criteria for candidates applying under the NRI quota for the academic year 2026-2027. As per the Supreme Court's order in W.P No. 13393 of 2007, the eligibility criteria include having a mother or father who is an NRI and residing abroad, or having a first-degree relation who is an NRI and residing abroad.
Definition of Nearest Relation
The definition of nearest relation includes real brother and sister of the father or mother, paternal and maternal grandparents, and real uncle and aunt. The committee will consider these relatives having blood relations as the nearest relation.
Documentation and Verification
Candidates applying under the NRI quota will be required to provide evidential proof and legal documents to demonstrate their eligibility. The MCC will seek documents to establish the bonafide legal guardianship of the sponsor.
