NEET UG 2026: NTA Clarifies Social Media Claims on OMR Answer Sheets
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued an official statement addressing the circulation of alleged "correct" NEET UG 2026 OMR answer sheets on social media. The agency clarified that these images are not official documents and have been found to be digitally manipulated or forged. After verifying every reported case, NTA confirmed that the genuine OMR answer sheets, containing the correct roll number, booklet details, barcode, candidate information, signatures, and thumb impressions, are securely maintained in its records and were already shared with candidates through the official portal and registered email.
NTA further stated that the scores declared for all candidates are fully consistent with the genuine OMR answer sheets, the official answer key, and the evaluation process. The agency observed that the manipulated images circulating online include alterations such as additional marked responses, modified candidate details, and forged invigilator signatures, making them invalid and misleading. Such fabricated documents do not represent any official record maintained by the agency.
The agency has warned that the creation, submission, or circulation of fake or digitally altered OMR answer sheets is a cognisable offence under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, along with relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and the Information Technology Act, 2000. Candidates with genuine concerns regarding their OMR sheets or results have been advised to use only the official grievance mechanism provided by NTA and avoid relying on or sharing unauthenticated documents circulating on social media.
