NEET (UG) 2026: NTA Warns Against Fake, Altered, or AI-Generated Documents

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a public notice cautioning candidates against the submission or circulation of fabricated, digitally altered, or AI-generated OMR answer sheets and scorecards for NEET UG 2026. The agency stated that after the declaration of results, it received several representations claiming that candidates' OMR sheets had been interchanged or that their scores were incorrect. However, upon verification, NTA found that the documents submitted in support of such claims were fabricated and did not match the official records maintained by the agency.
According to the notice, forged documents have been created using techniques such as AI-generated modifications, digital editing of candidate details, manipulation of marks, and tampering with scorecards while retaining original barcodes or QR codes. NTA emphasized that all official OMR sheets and scorecards contain secure, verifiable identifiers linked to its servers, making any fabricated document easily detectable during verification.
The agency has warned that the creation, possession, submission, or circulation of fake examination documents is a cognisable offence under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, along with provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and the Information Technology Act, 2000. Such violations may lead to criminal prosecution, imprisonment, fines, cancellation of candidature, and debarment from future NTA examinations. Candidates with genuine grievances are advised to submit their concerns only through the official NTA grievance mechanism using authentic documents downloaded from the official portal.
