NEET UG 2026 Refund: Bank Account Update Window Extended to July 14

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has once again extended the deadline for NEET UG 2026 candidates to confirm, correct, or update their bank account details for the examination fee refund. The window, which was earlier set to close on July 7, 2026, has now been pushed to July 14, 2026, giving candidates additional time to complete this mandatory step before the refund can be credited to their accounts. The extension comes as a relief for a large number of candidates who had either missed the earlier deadline or entered incorrect banking information and were at risk of not receiving their refund.

NTA has reiterated that candidates should update their details only through the official NEET portal, neet.nta.nic.in, and should not rely on any third-party website, agent, or unofficial link claiming to process the refund. The agency has also clarified that refunds are already being processed in phases for candidates who have successfully confirmed their bank details, and that this fresh extension is intended to ensure that no eligible candidate is left out due to incomplete or incorrect information.

Why Has the Deadline Been Extended Again?

NTA had first asked candidates to submit their bank account details through a public notice issued on May 22, 2026, and later reopened the correction window on June 25, 2026, after receiving complaints about incorrect account numbers and IFSC codes. The deadline was subsequently set for July 7, 2026, and described at the time as the final opportunity. However, official figures shared by NTA showed that only a little over 8 lakh candidates had confirmed or updated their bank details by early July, out of the roughly 20 lakh candidates who appeared for the original NEET UG 2026 exam on May 3, 2026. With a significant number of eligible candidates still not having completed the process, NTA has extended the window a further time, till July 14, 2026, to ensure that refunds reach as many eligible candidates as possible.

Why Is NTA Refunding the NEET UG 2026 Fee?

The original NEET UG 2026 examination was conducted on May 3, 2026, for more than 22 lakh candidates, but it was cancelled by NTA on May 12, 2026, following the detection of a confirmed paper leak by the Rajasthan Police Special Operations Group (SOG). The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) subsequently took over the probe and made multiple arrests in connection with the leak. NTA rescheduled the examination, and the re-examination, commonly referred to as Re-NEET 2026, was successfully conducted on June 21, 2026, for around 20 lakh candidates, with no additional fee charged for the re-attempt. Since candidates had to appear for the exam a second time due to no fault of their own, NTA committed to refunding the original examination fee to all eligible candidates.

How to Update Bank Details for NEET UG 2026 Refund

Candidates who have not yet confirmed or updated their bank account details, or who wish to correct previously submitted information, can follow the steps below before the revised deadline of July 14, 2026.

  • Step 1: Visit the official NEET portal at neet.nta.nic.in
  • Step 2: Click on the link for 'Bank Account Details Confirmation/Updation' for the NEET UG 2026 refund
  • Step 3: Log in using your NEET UG 2026 application number and password
  • Step 4: Complete the mandatory two-factor authentication using the OTP sent to your registered mobile number
  • Step 5: Review the previously submitted bank details, if any, displayed on the screen
  • Step 6: Confirm the details if correct, or enter updated bank account number, IFSC code, and account holder name if incorrect or not previously submitted
  • Step 7: Candidates may also upload a cancelled cheque or passbook copy for additional verification, if the option is available
  • Step 8: Submit the details and save or screenshot the confirmation page for future reference

Candidates who had earlier selected the 'No Refund' option but now wish to claim their refund can also revise this choice within the extended window. It is strongly advised not to wait until the last day, as heavy last-minute traffic on the portal can lead to login delays or OTP-related issues close to the deadline.

What If You Still Miss the July 14 Deadline?

Candidates facing genuine technical issues while attempting to update their details should reach out to NTA promptly through the official helpline at 011-40759000 or by writing to neetug2026@nta.nic.in, rather than waiting until the final hours of the deadline. Candidates are also advised to keep a copy of their submission confirmation as proof in case of any discrepancy later in the refund process.

NEET UG 2026 Result: What's Happening in Parallel

Alongside the refund process, candidates are also awaiting the Re-NEET UG 2026 result, which NTA has indicated will be declared on or before July 20, 2026, after review of nearly 10,000 objections raised against the provisional answer key. NTA has clarified that this revised result timeline will not affect the overall medical admission calendar for the 2026-27 session. Once the result is declared, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will begin the counselling process for All India Quota seats. Candidates can refer to the medical counselling guide to understand the complete process, and use the Medical College Predictor or the dedicated NEET UG College Predictor to estimate their admission chances based on their expected rank. Candidates can also explore the full list of top medical colleges in India, along with separate lists of top government medical colleges in India and top private medical colleges in India while planning their preferences ahead of counselling.
