A Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) is a six-year clinically-oriented doctoral program for students who have completed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Mathematics (PCB/PCM). It's distinct from the four-year B.Pharm: where B.Pharm leans toward pharmaceutical industry and manufacturing roles, Pharm.D is built around direct patient care, clinical pharmacy, and hospital-based practice.

Most Pharm.D seats are filled through state-level entrance exams or direct admission based on Class 12 marks — there's no single national-level entrance exam dedicated to Pharm.D. GPAT becomes relevant later for graduates pursuing further postgraduate pharmacy research. The program covers pharmaceutical science fundamentals in the first two years, followed by four years of clinical training, hospital postings, and a mandatory 1-year clinical internship.
