Admission to the two-year MBA at IIM Kashipur is through the Common Admission Test, and the eligibility criteria are the same as those for CAT. For the 2026-28 batch, the process involves two stages. In Stage 1, all eligible candidates who appeared for CAT-2025 and applied to IIM Kashipur are shortlisted for a Personal Interview on the basis of category-wise minimum sectional and overall percentiles, in line with the Joint Admission Process guidelines. Stage 2 applies to the shortlisted candidates and comprises the Personal Interview followed by generation of a merit list. The Institute notes that the shortlisting criteria are intended as eligibility requirements and do not imply entitlement, and that they may be relaxed if the number of shortlisted candidates in any category falls short of what is needed.

The final merit list is generated out of 100 marks. The Personal Interview carries 25 marks, while the shortlist components carry 75 marks: CAT score 41, Class X marks 2, Class XII marks 2, graduation marks 5, professional qualifications such as CA, CS or ICWA 2, work experience 15, academic discipline diversity 2 and female or transgender diversity 6. Work experience is scored on a graded scale, with candidates having more than 18 and up to 30 months of experience receiving the maximum weight of 15. IIM Kashipur follows Government of India reservation norms for SC, ST, NC-OBC, PwD and EWS candidates.
The MBA (Analytics) programme follows a separate three-stage process. Candidates first submit an online application with the required documents and pay the non-refundable application fee of Rs. 1,500 for General, NC-OBC and EWS candidates or Rs. 750 for SC, ST and PwD candidates. They are then shortlisted on the basis of CAT-2025 or GMAT score, marks in Class X, Class XII and graduation, work experience, discipline diversity and gender diversity, and finally appear for an online Personal Interview. Eligibility requires a full-time bachelor's degree with at least 50 percent marks, 47 percent for NC-OBC and EWS, and 45 percent for SC, ST and PwD, along with a valid CAT-2025 score or a GMAT score taken on or after 1 May 2024. The online application for the 2026-28 batch closed on 8 March 2026.
Candidates should keep the following documents ready, as they may be requested at any stage of verification:
- Caste certificate (NC-OBC, SC, ST or PwD), where applicable, and a valid NC-OBC certificate at the time of admission registration
- EWS supporting document as per Government of India norms
- Class X (SSC) and Class XII (HSC) mark sheets or equivalent
- Graduation degree and mark sheets
- Proof of full-time paid work experience, with first and last salary slips and exact joining and leaving dates
- Bank salary certificate for work experience in the unorganised sector, with salary credited from the firm's bank account
For fee payment, the 2026-28 MBA and MBA (Analytics) schedule lists term-wise due dates, with the admission fee of Rs. 25,000 and caution deposit of Rs. 9,000 payable in Term I. Under the refund rules, a withdrawal before the start of orientation and induction sessions leads to a refund of the entire fee after deducting a processing fee of Rs. 1,000, whereas a withdrawal on or after that date results in refund of only the caution money; the application fee is never refunded. Before accepting an offer, candidates should read the fee structure.
The Executive MBA requires a recognised bachelor's degree with at least 50 percent marks (47 percent for NC-OBC, 45 percent for SC, ST and DAP) and three years of managerial, entrepreneurial or professional experience, with selection based on a valid CAT or GMAT score from the last two years or the Institute's own Executive Management Aptitude Test, followed by a Personal Interview. The Executive MBA (Analytics) and the EPGDBM require three years of full-time work experience and use their own admission tests. For the doctoral programme of batch 2026-30, applicants need a qualifying test score or a UGC or CSIR-JRF qualification, followed by a Personal Interview.
