About J.P. Institute of Ayurvedic & Medical Sciences

J.P. Institute of Ayurvedic & Medical Sciences (JPIAMS), located at Sattar, Panchmuhani, Sarai Maner, Patna, Bihar-801113, is a private Ayurvedic institution established in 2021 and registered as a trust under MSME (Udyam Registration: UDYAM-BR-26-0060184). The institute holds College Code AYU0835 from the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, and is affiliated to Bihar University of Health Sciences (BUHS), Patna. NCISM permission letters have been obtained and published for active academic years, and the institute participates in the Bihar UGMAC (AYUSH) counselling process conducted by BCECEB. Drawing inspiration from the ancient legacy of Nalanda University — historically one of the world's greatest seats of learning, where scholars like Sage Nagarjuna advanced the science of Rasashastra and Sage Charaka developed Shalya Tantra — JPIAMS was founded with the vision of reviving classical Ayurvedic knowledge through a structured academic framework supported by modern scientific infrastructure. The institution is run by a registered trust and is committed to providing both quality Ayurvedic education and accessible healthcare to the communities of Bihar. The flagship academic programme at JPIAMS is the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (B.A.M.S.), a 4.5-year undergraduate degree (plus a mandatory 1-year internship, totalling 5.5 years). The sanctioned intake capacity for the BAMS programme has grown from 70 UG seats (2023) to 100 UG seats (2024 and 2025), as officially published on the college website. The curriculum spans core Ayurvedic departments including Samhita Siddhanta & Sanskrit, Rachana Sharira (Anatomy), Kriya Sharira (Physiology), Dravyaguna (Pharmacognosy), Rasashastra & Bhaishajyakalpana (Pharmaceutics), Roga Nidan & Vikriti Vigyan (Pathology), Agada Tantra (Toxicology), Swasthavritta & Yoga (Preventive Medicine), Kayachikitsa (Internal Medicine), Panchakarma, Shalya Tantra (Surgery), Shalakya Tantra (ENT & Ophthalmology), Prasuti Tantra & Stree Roga (Obstetrics & Gynaecology), and Kaumarabhritya (Paediatrics). At the core of the institution is the JP Ayurveda Hospital & Research Institute, a 100-bed super-specialty Ayurvedic hospital built in accordance with Vaastu principles, surrounded by a sacred herbal garden designed to facilitate the recovery of patients through the natural environment. The hospital is registered under the Clinical Establishment Act and staffed by more than 30 Ayurvedic doctors, offering comprehensive clinical training to students. Facilities include 9 specialised OPDs, spacious IPD wards, an Operation Theatre (for Ksharasutra and other procedures), a Prasutigrha (Labour Theatre), a full-fledged Panchakarma Therapy Section with dedicated sections for male and female patients (equipped with Snehana, Shirodhara, Swedana, Nasya, Vamana, Virechana, and Basti rooms), a Dispensary Block with free medicines for indoor and OPD patients, a Diagnostic Block (ECG, X-ray, Sonography, Central Clinical Laboratory), physiotherapy treatment centre, and a 24x7 NICU and Emergency facility. Patients in the IPD receive free vegetarian meals prepared from organic produce sourced from the hospital's own herbal garden and dairy farm. Specialised OPDs include a Pain Management OPD, Cosmetic Skin Care OPD, Garbhasanskar OPD, Swasthavritta OPD (Immunity Clinic), and a Fever OPD. A Pyramid Therapy facility and a Yoga and Meditation Hall further distinguish the hospital's holistic care model. The academic infrastructure of the college campus includes spacious well-equipped classrooms with multimedia and internet connectivity, a computerised library, an Anatomy Dissection Theater, Physiology Laboratory, Dravyaguna (Pharmacognosy) Laboratory, Pharmacy, and a dedicated Herbal Garden maintained by the trust. Separate hostels for boys and girls with food facilities are available on campus. The college also conducts educational tours to nearby villages and herbal gardens to give students practical exposure to medicinal plant cultivation. The college publishes full NCISM Mandates compliance data on its official website including College Council records, Principal Information, Accreditations, Permission Letters, Attendance records, Hospital Staff Details, Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff Details, OPD/IPD Summaries, Details of Students batch-wise, Total Sanctioned Intake Capacity, Research & Publications, and Awards. Admission to the B.A.M.S. programme is through NEET UG, followed by counselling via the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB) under the UGMAC (AYUSH) process.
