Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology (MMMUT), Gorakhpur was established in 2013 by the Government of Uttar Pradesh as a non-affiliating, teaching and research university, after reconstituting the Madan Mohan Malaviya Engineering College, Gorakhpur (founded in 1962). The University is located on Gorakhpur-Deoria Road, about 9 km from Gorakhpur Railway Station, and its campus spreads over 354 acres. MMMUT offers B.Tech in Chemical, Civil, Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics & Communication (including an IoT specialization), Information Technology, and Mechanical Engineering, along with B.B.A. and B.Pharm at the undergraduate level. At the postgraduate level it offers M.Tech across twelve specializations, M.C.A., M.B.A., and M.Sc. (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics). Doctoral programmes are offered in twelve disciplines spanning engineering, sciences, economics and English. The University is NAAC 'A' grade accredited and holds UGC 12(B) and 2(f) status. As per its official rankings page, MMMUT is ranked 292nd in South Asia and 901+ in Asia by QS World University Rankings, placed in the 1201-1500 band globally (65th in India) by Times Higher Education (THE) 2026, and in NIRF 2025 is ranked 60th in Engineering, 68th in the University category, 23rd among State Public Universities, 99th Overall, and 83rd in Management. The University is residential, with seven boys' hostels (Raman, Subhash, Visveswaraya, Tagore, Ambedkar, Tilak, and Ramanujam Bhawan) and four girls' hostels (Saraswati, Sarojani, Kalpna Chawala, and Kasturaba Bhawan), all with 24x7 leased-line internet in every room.
