About National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management
The National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad, is an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India, established in 1987 as the 'National Centre for Management of Agricultural Extension.' It was elevated to National Institute status in 1992 and re-christened MANAGE. The institute's vision is to be counted among the most pioneering, innovative, user-friendly and self-supporting agricultural management institutes in the world, with a mission of facilitating managerial and technical skill acquisition by Extension Officers, Managers, Scientists and Administrators across the agricultural economy to enable them to provide effective support to farmers and fishermen for practicing sustainable agriculture. MANAGE's flagship academic offering is the two-year, full-time Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Agri Business Management) โ PGDM(ABM) โ launched in 1996 as one of the first specialized agribusiness management courses in India. It is AICTE-recognized, NBA-accredited (2025-2028), and holds AIU recognition (2022-2025). The institute also offers the Post Graduate Diploma in Agricultural Extension Management (PGDAEM), the Diploma in Agricultural Extension Services for Input Dealers (DAESI), and several MOOCs-based online diploma programmes including PGDAEM-MOOCs and PGDAWM-MOOCs (Post Graduate Diploma in Agri-Warehousing Management). Beyond formal academic programmes, MANAGE conducts extensive short-term training, research, and extension-reform activities for extension functionaries across India, and runs the Agri-Clinics and Agri-Business Centres (ACABC) scheme, the Kisan Call Centre (KCC), and various agri-startup incubation initiatives (including MANAGE-FPO Academy and fisheries-sector incubation programmes). As per NIRF India Rankings 2025, MANAGE is ranked #95 out of 125 institutions in the Management category, and it is separately assessed each year in the NIRF Agricultural & Allied Sectors category. MANAGE is recognized as one of India's top sectoral B-schools for agriculture and agribusiness management, cited by Outlook magazine as ranking 24th among India's best B-schools overall and 4th in South India specifically for its sectoral focus. The PGDM(ABM) programme has built a network of over 1,500 alumni across the agricultural and agribusiness sector since its inception. Admission to the PGDM(ABM) is based on a valid CAT or CMAT score, followed by shortlisting (typically in a ratio of 1:5-10 of seats to shortlisted candidates), an Analytical Writing Skill Test (AWST), Group Discussion (GD), and Personal Interview (PI) conducted at designated centres. Eligibility requires a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Fisheries, Forestry, Sericulture, Agricultural Engineering, Food Science, Biotechnology, Dairy Technology, Home Science, or Agricultural Information Technology, among other allied disciplines. The total seat intake for PGDM(ABM) is 120 (though the institute has also reported operating at 132 seats in some recent cycles). Fee structure: per aggregated third-party data cross-referenced with the official fee-payment portal, the total PGDM(ABM) fee for the 2-year programme is approximately Rs. 9.75 lakh (increased from approximately Rs. 9 lakh in the 2025-26 cycle), split across the two years with the first year typically higher (~Rs. 4.4-4.5 lakh) than the second (~Rs. 3.6 lakh) plus additional charges. The Post Graduate Diploma programmes (e.g. PGDAEM) cost approximately Rs. 20,000 for the full 2-year duration, and shorter diploma programmes (e.g. DAESI-related) cost approximately Rs. 28,000 for a 1-year duration โ reflecting MANAGE's mandate as a largely subsidized, government-funded institute for extension professionals, distinct from its flagship market-facing PGDM(ABM) programme. The PGDM(ABM) application fee is Rs. 600 (Rs. 200 for SC/ST categories). MANAGE's placement record for PGDM(ABM) is notably strong: 100% placements have reportedly been achieved since the programme's inception in 1996. Per the most recent reported cohort (2023-24 graduating batch), 63 of 65 graduated students were placed (with the remaining 2 opting for higher studies), and the median salary was Rs. 11.60 LPA. Major recruiting sectors include Agri Input (~46%), FMCG (~19%), and Procurement (~10%), alongside banking, insurance, agro-chemicals, seeds, agro-processing, fertilizers, and retailing.
