Admission Process Overview

Required Entrance Exams

CAT (Common Admission Test, conducted by the IIMs) or GMAT (Graduate Management Aptitude Test); candidates applying for CAT should indicate their intention to apply to NIBM as a non-IIM institute.

Eligibility Criteria
Bachelor's degree in any discipline with at least 50% marks (45% for NC-OBC/SC/ST/PwD/EWS reserved categories) or equivalent CGPA from a university incorporated by a central/state legislature act or UGC-recognised institution. Indicative CAT/GMAT percentile thresholds (per the 2026-28 Prospectus): General 80, NC-OBC 70, EWS 70, SC 65, ST 55, PwD 55 (subject to annual revision).
Admission Process
Online application, screening on CAT/GMAT score, shortlisting for an offline Oral Communication Test (OCT) and Personal Interview (PI) at designated centres (Bengaluru, Delhi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Pune for the 2026-28 cycle), followed by a composite merit score weighted as CAT/GMAT 35%, Academic Performance 25%, Personal Interview 25%, OCT 10%, and Extracurriculars/Work Experience 5%. Selected candidates must pay the first fee instalment within two weeks of the offer or forfeit the seat to the waitlist.

Admission Process at NIBM Pune

  • Valid CAT or GMAT scorecard
  • Bachelor's degree mark sheets/provisional certificate (final-year students may apply provisionally)
  • Class X and XII mark sheets (used for the Academic Performance component)
  • Category/caste validity certificate, where applicable
  • Passport-size photographs
  • Work experience and extracurricular activity documentation, if any

The final merit list is built on a composite score: CAT/GMAT scores (35%), Academic Performance based on SSC/HSC marks (25%), Personal Interview (25%), Oral Communication Test (10%), and Extracurricular activities/Work Experience (5%). Selected candidates must pay the first instalment within two weeks of the offer of admission to confirm their seat. Candidates allotted a seat must report with original documents for verification.
