Admission Process at TKM Institute of Management
The institute's online application requires a processing fee of Rs. 500, along with a copy of the candidate's qualifying entrance exam scorecard. Selection is based on a composite score in which the CAT/CMAT/KMAT (Kerala) result carries an 80% weightage, while Group Discussion and Personal Interview, conducted directly by the institute, each carry a 10% weightage. Final merit ranking and seat offers are based on this composite score rather than the entrance exam score alone.
- Online MBA application form, duly completed
- Application fee of Rs. 500 (paid online)
- Valid CAT / CMAT / KMAT (Kerala) scorecard
- Bachelor's degree mark sheets meeting the minimum aggregate/Part III percentage
- Caste Certificate for OBC/SC/ST category applicants (as per University of Kerala norms)
- Valid photo ID and recent passport-size photographs
Eligibility requires a minimum of 50% marks in Part III for BA/BSc/BCom graduates, or 50% aggregate marks across all semesters/parts for graduates of other disciplines; University of Kerala's relaxed eligibility norms apply for OBC and SC/ST candidates, who must attach their caste certificate with the application. Candidates aiming for financial support alongside admission are encouraged to also register for the institute's Merit and Merit-cum-Means Scholarship Examination, conducted separately each year ahead of the main admission cycle, since qualifying performance in that test can meaningfully reduce the overall MBA fee. Once selected, candidates confirm admission by paying the prescribed semester fee, details of which are listed on the fee structure page.
Candidates who clear the CAT/CMAT/KMAT (Kerala) cutoff set internally by the institute are called for Group Discussion and Personal Interview rounds typically held on the Kollam campus, though remote or video-based interview slots have occasionally been arranged for outstation and NRI applicants. Since the GD-PI stage together carries a 20% weightage in the final composite score, candidates are encouraged to prepare on current business and economic topics in addition to their entrance-exam scores, as a strong GD-PI performance can meaningfully offset a moderate entrance-test score.
Once the composite merit list is released, admission offers are typically extended in a small number of sequential rounds to fill the 120 sanctioned seats, with waitlisted candidates called up as higher-ranked candidates confirm or decline their offers. Given the programme's fully residential nature, admitted candidates are also expected to complete hostel registration formalities alongside academic admission, and are advised to review the accommodation and campus facilities page ahead of reporting.
