JCECEB BDS Counselling 2026: Advisory on Awadh Dental College
The Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB) has issued an important advisory for candidates participating in the counselling process for BDS admissions regarding Awadh Dental College & Hospital, Jamshedpur. The notice informs candidates that seats at the dental college have been included in the counselling process in view of a recent judgment of the Hon’ble High Court of Jharkhand.
JCECEB has advised candidates to carefully consider the regulatory and legal status of the college before exercising or locking their choice for Awadh Dental College & Hospital. According to the notice, the regulatory status of the college and admissions made during the previous academic session have been the subject of proceedings before the Jharkhand High Court.
The notice further states that, through its judgment dated 13 August 2026, the Hon’ble High Court set aside the earlier decision that had stopped or debarred admissions at the college. However, the Court has left the issue concerning the legality/regulatory status of admission of 68 BDS students open for determination by the National Dental Commission (NDC) through an independent inquiry, after providing an opportunity of hearing to the concerned college.
In view of these developments, candidates are strongly advised to consider the possible legal and regulatory implications before filling or locking their preference for the college. JCECEB recommends that candidates satisfy themselves regarding the latest recognition/permission status for the relevant academic session and regularly monitor communications and orders issued by the competent regulatory authorities.
The notice also cautions candidates that once a choice is exercised and locked and a seat is allotted, the applicable consequences under the counselling rules will follow. Therefore, candidates should make an informed decision and carefully review the relevant court judgment, orders and instructions before including the college in their preference list.
