Kerala BDS Admission 2026: 15% AIQ in Private Dental Colleges
The Government of Kerala has issued an important order introducing a 15% All India Quota (AIQ) for BDS admissions in self-financing dental colleges in the state from the academic year 2026–27. Under the new provision, 15% of the seats in self-financing dental colleges will be available for admission on an All-India basis, irrespective of the candidate’s domicile or nativity. Admission to these seats will be based on the NEET-UG rank list prepared by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerala, using the rank obtained in the NEET-UG examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
The order addresses the earlier difference between BDS and other professional medical courses. The existing KEAM provisions already provided for 15% All India Quota seats in self-financing institutions for courses such as MBBS, BAMS, BSMS and BUMS, whereas a similar provision was not available for BDS admissions in self-financing dental colleges. The issue was also raised before the Kerala High Court through a petition filed by the Principal of PMS College of Dental Science and Research.
Following examination of the matter and discussions with representatives of self-financing dental colleges, the Kerala Government approved the implementation of the 15% AIQ for BDS admissions from 2026–27 onwards. CEE Kerala has been directed to incorporate the new provision into the KEAM 2026–27 Prospectus and take the necessary steps for its implementation.
