MCC Directs State Authorities to Complete NEET UG Round 3 Admissions by October 16, 2026
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, has issued an urgent notice to state counselling authorities regarding NEET UG Counselling 2026.
Dated October 14, 2026, the notice directs all state counselling authorities to complete the reporting process and all admission formalities for Round 3 of State UG Counselling 2026 by 5:00 PM on October 16, 2026. Authorities must subsequently upload the data of candidates who have joined seats up to Round 3 on the MCC data-sharing portal by 7:00 PM on the same day.
According to the notice, filtering out candidates who have already joined seats through state counselling is mandatory before the All India Quota (AIQ) UG Stray Vacancy Round. The direction follows the Supreme Court of India’s order in Contempt Petition (C) No. 289 of 2022 in Writ Petition No. 223 of 2022, Shubhankar Patnaik vs. K. Ramesh Reddy & Ors.
The measure is intended to ensure that candidates already holding a state counselling seat are not allotted another seat through the AIQ Stray Vacancy Round.
The notice is addressed to state counselling authorities. NEET UG aspirants should continue checking their respective state counselling websites and the official MCC portal for candidate-specific instructions, eligibility conditions and further updates.
