| IIT Delhi | Computer Science and Engineering | 123 |
| IIT Madras | Computer Science and Engineering | 149 |

What to Do After JoSAA Round 2 Allotment
After checking your allotment, you must choose one of three options on the JoSAA portal. Your choice determines whether you stay in the counselling process for future rounds.
| Option | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Freeze | Accept the allotted seat permanently. You will not participate in further rounds. Pay fee and report to institute. |
| Float | Accept the current seat but remain in the pool for a better institute or branch in the next round. Current seat is held. |
| Slide | Accept the current institute but want a better branch within the same institute in the next round. |
Once you choose an option, you must pay the seat acceptance fee - Rs 30,000 for General, OBC, and EWS candidates and Rs 15,000 for SC, ST, and PwD candidates. After fee payment, complete document upload and respond to any verification queries raised by reporting centres before July 5, 2026.
Documents Required for JoSAA 2026 Online Reporting
- Class 10 mark sheet and certificate (for date of birth proof).
- Class 12 mark sheet and passing certificate.
- JEE Main 2026 Scorecard or JEE Advanced 2026 Rank Card (as applicable).
- Category certificate -OBC-NCL, SC, ST, EWS (if applicable). Must meet JoSAA validity requirements.
- PwD certificate (if applicable).
- Passport-size photographs.
- Medical fitness certificate -mandatory for all candidates.
- Aadhaar card or any valid government photo ID.
Candidates applying under OBC-NCL or EWS category must ensure their certificates are valid as per JoSAA requirements. Any mismatch in the uploaded certificate may affect the category claimed during verification. If the reporting authority raises a query, candidates must upload corrected files before July 5, 2026 at 5:00 PM. Ignoring a query can lead to cancellation of the provisionally allotted seat.
Seat Movement Trends in JoSAA Round 2
Historically, around 10 to 15 percent of seats shift between Round 1 and Round 2 as candidates who withdrew or did not pay the Round 1 acceptance fee vacate their seats. Candidates in the waitlist can benefit from this movement. Branches like Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Biotechnology at NITs typically see more seat movement in Round 2. CSE, AI, and ECE at top NITs and IITs see very little change between rounds.
About JoSAA 2026 Counselling
JoSAA is constituted by the Ministry of Education to conduct a common counselling process for seat allocation based on JEE Main and JEE Advanced ranks. JoSAA counselling is usually held in 5 to 6 rounds. After all JoSAA rounds are complete, CSAB conducts a Special Vacant Seats Filling Round for NITs, IIEST, IIITs, and Other-GFTIs. There is no spot round at any IIT. For a detailed understanding of how engineering counselling works, visit our Engineering Counselling Guide.
Candidates who did not get a seat in Round 2 or want to explore options beyond JoSAA institutes can check the Top Engineering Colleges in India list and use the College Predictor to find suitable institutes across all states. Students can also explore the B.Tech course details page to understand specialisations, fees, and career scope before making a final decision.
