UPTAC 2026 Round 2 Choice Alteration Window Opens Today

Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) has opened the Round 2 choice alteration window for UPTAC 2026 BTech counselling today, July 13, 2026, and it will remain active until July 14, 2026, on the official portal, uptac.samarth.edu.in. Candidates who did not receive a seat in Round 1, as well as those who opted to float, can revise, reorder, add, or delete their college-branch preferences during this window ahead of the Round 2 seat allotment.

This follows the Round 1 seat allotment result, which was declared on July 9, 2026, on the UPTAC portal. Candidates allotted a seat in Round 1 were required to pay the seat acceptance fee and declare their willingness option, Freeze, Float, or Withdraw, by July 12, 2026. Those who did not receive an allotment in Round 1 are automatically carried forward to Round 2 without any additional registration.

How to Update Choices in UPTAC 2026 Round 2

  • Step 1: Visit the official UPTAC portal at uptac.samarth.edu.in
  • Step 2: Log in using your registration ID (application number) and password
  • Step 3: Go to the Choice Filling or Choice Alteration section on your dashboard
  • Step 4: Review your existing locked preferences from Round 1
  • Step 5: Add new college-branch combinations, reorder existing ones, or delete choices you no longer wish to keep
  • Step 6: Refer to previous rounds' opening and closing ranks before finalising changes
  • Step 7: Lock your updated choices before the window closes on July 14, 2026
  • Step 8: Save and download a confirmation printout of your final choice list

Candidates are strongly advised to add a wide range of choices, including safer government college options and realistic private college backups, since unlocked or unsaved preferences are not considered during seat allotment. AKTU has advised candidates to include at least 25 to 50 choice combinations to improve their chances across subsequent rounds.

Freeze, Float, or Withdraw: What Do They Mean?

  • Freeze: The candidate accepts the allotted seat as final and exits further rounds of seat allotment, though the category status of the seat may still be upgraded automatically in later stages.
  • Float: The candidate keeps the currently allotted seat while remaining eligible for a better allotment in subsequent rounds, based on updated choices and rank.
  • Withdrawal: The candidate exits the UPTAC counselling process entirely and cancels further participation; the seat acceptance fee is generally forfeited in such cases.

Candidates who fail to pay the seat acceptance fee or declare a willingness option within the given deadline for any round will have their allotted seat automatically cancelled, with no exceptions made for late submissions.
