UPTET 2026 Marking Scheme and Qualifying Criteria

UPTET 2026 consists of 150 objective-type, multiple-choice questions for each paper, with one mark awarded for every correct answer and no negative marking for incorrect responses. As per the norms followed in previous UPTET cycles, candidates from the General and OBC categories are typically required to score at least 90 marks out of 150 to qualify, while SC and ST category candidates need a minimum of 82 marks out of 150. Since the exam was conducted across two shifts for Paper 1 and three shifts for Paper 2 on different dates, the final scores are expected to undergo a state-vetted normalization process to account for variation in difficulty level across shifts before the result is prepared.

What Happens After the Objection Window Closes

Once the objection window closes on July 14, 2026, UPESSC's expert review committee will examine each challenge along with the supporting evidence submitted by candidates. Based on this review, the commission will prepare and release the UPTET Final Answer Key 2026, which will be used to calculate the official result. No further objections will be entertained once the final answer key is published. Following this, UPESSC will declare the UPTET 2026 result, and candidates will be able to check it by logging into the official website using their registration number and date of birth.

Candidates who qualify UPTET 2026 will be issued a UPTET Eligibility Certificate, which, as per current rules, remains valid for a lifetime. This certificate is a mandatory requirement for candidates wishing to apply for future teacher recruitment vacancies for primary and upper primary level government teaching posts in Uttar Pradesh.
