About PGDM

A Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) is a two-year, industry-oriented management program offered by autonomous, AICTE-approved B-schools — including all the IIMs — rather than university-affiliated colleges. Since it's a diploma and not a university degree, institutes have more flexibility to update curriculum frequently in line with industry needs.

Admission is through national management entrance exams such as CAT, XAT, CMAT, and NMAT, followed by group discussions/written ability tests and personal interviews — the specific mix of accepted exams varies by institute. The program follows the same broad structure as an MBA: a foundation year of core subjects, followed by a specialization year with electives, a project, and an internship.
