About Law College Admissions in India (2026)

Law college admissions in India are conducted through multiple national and state-level entrance exams. The most prominent is CLAT (Common Law Admission Test), conducted by the Consortium of NLUs, which grants access to all 25 National Law Universities (NLUs) across India. The AILET exam is conducted exclusively by NLU Delhi- India's #1 ranked law school - for its BA LLB and LLM programs.

Delhi University's Faculty of Law now accepts CLAT UG scores for its prestigious B.A. LL.B. and B.B.A. LL.B. programs since 2022. GGSIPU in Delhi admits students to its affiliated law colleges through CLAT rank. State exams like MH CET Law (Maharashtra) and SLAT (Symbiosis) open routes into top private law schools.

Tips for Law Aspirants: Making the Most of the Predictor

Check multiple categories

If you qualify under SC/ST/OBC/EWS reservation, always run the predictor for your actual category - cutoffs are significantly lower and you may qualify for colleges that seem out of reach in UR.

Compare Round 1 vs Final Round

Round 1 cutoffs are the most competitive. Many candidates get seats in Round 2 or Final Round as earlier allottees upgrade or withdraw. Always check multiple rounds before giving up on a college.

Use both CLAT and AILET predictors

If you appeared in both CLAT and AILET, run both predictors. NLU Delhi via AILET may have a different cut than via CLAT (for general NLU pool). Most top law aspirants appear in both.

Consider DU LLB as an alternative

Delhi University's Faculty of Law uses CLAT UG scores. If your CLAT rank isn't enough for top NLUs, DU LLB is a prestigious alternative with excellent placement and Supreme Court access in Delhi.

Plan for counselling rounds

Don't lock your college preference after Round 1. Keep monitoring subsequent rounds - seats vacate as top rankers get better colleges in later rounds, improving your options significantly.

Verify cutoffs officially

Our predictions are based on past data. Always verify final cutoffs from official NLU/DU/IPU counselling portals before making final decisions. Use our tool for planning, not as the final word.
