Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (AIMSR), Bathinda, is one of Punjab's most prominent private medical colleges, established in 2006 by the Adesh Group — a healthcare-focused educational trust — with a vision to deliver high-quality medical education, promote healthcare research, and provide exceptional patient care. Founded on the main Bathinda–Barnala National Highway adjacent to Bathinda Cantonment, approximately 12 km from Bathinda Railway Station and 19.5 km from Bathinda Bus Station, the campus is strategically situated for excellent connectivity to all parts of Punjab and beyond. AIMSR was initially affiliated with Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot, for its 2006–2011 MBBS batches. From the 2012 MBBS batch onwards, the institution came under the umbrella of Adesh University, Bathinda — the university formed by the Adesh Group. Adesh University was awarded the prestigious 'Six Sigma Healthcare Excellence Award' (Oscars of Indian Healthcare) under Best Healthcare Academic Institution of the Year in December 2015. The medical college is also listed in the FAIMER World Directory of Medical Schools, ensuring that AIMSR MBBS degrees are globally recognized. The campus spans 100 acres in total, with college buildings spread over a 40-acre self-contained complex. Infrastructure highlights include: a state-of-the-art 1,200-seat centrally air-conditioned auditorium-cum-examination hall with modern audio-visual aids for regional, national, and international conferences; air-conditioned lecture halls with modern teaching facilities; a centralized air-conditioned library on the second and third floors of the college building containing 13,502 books and 200+ national and international journals with well-ventilated reading rooms; fully equipped ultra-modern laboratories for anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, and microbiology; an Urban Health Centre at Bhucho Mandi (3 km away) serving a population of 32,000 for Community Medicine teaching; and 24-hour running water, electricity, and sewerage treatment infrastructure. The teaching hospital — Adesh Multi-Specialty Tertiary Care Hospital — is a major 1,190-bed (functional; earlier reported as 750 beds, now expanded) teaching facility with 700+ inpatient beds and sees approximately 1,400 outpatients daily. The hospital has a conveniently located Emergency Department near the main highway entrance for quick ambulance access, and offers advanced tertiary-level services including NICU, PICU, OICU, Paediatric Nephrology with dialysis, Arthroscopy, and GI Endoscopy. Clinical departments include Medicine, Surgery, OBG, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics, ENT, Ophthalmology, Pulmonology, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Anaesthesiology, and Radiology, along with three paraclinical departments: Pathology, Microbiology, and Biochemistry. AIMSR offers 150 MBBS seats annually and 58 MD/MS seats across 20 clinical and non-clinical specialties (some sources cite 46 seats in 15 departments; 58 seats in 20 specialties reflects the latest expansion). Admissions for MBBS are conducted through Punjab NEET UG counselling managed by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot. PG admissions are similarly through BFUHS NEET PG counselling for state quota and MCC for All India Quota. Hostel facilities are excellent and fully residential: the Boys Hostel accommodates 436 students (144 rooms with 3 persons per room) and the Girls Hostel accommodates 742 students (244 rooms). Together, the hostels house approximately 600–1,178 students. Facilities include 3 canteens and 1 mess, sports grounds for basketball, volleyball, football, table tennis, cricket, and badminton. Total MBBS course tuition fee is approximately ₹68–72 lakhs; NRI Quota total course fee approximately USD 1,10,000–1,20,000. AIMSR holds Edurank position of 30th in Punjab and 3rd in Bathinda (2023).
