About Andaman & Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences, Port Blair
Andaman & Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences (ANIIMS), Sri Vijaya Puram (formerly Port Blair) is an NMC-recognized Government medical college that came into being on 1st September 2015 (Academic Session 2015–16). It was established by upgrading the G.B. Pant Hospital under a Centrally Sponsored Scheme by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, at a total approved cost of ₹189 Crores. It is the only medical college in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, operated under ANIMERS (Andaman & Nicobar Medical Education and Research Society) and affiliated with Pondicherry University. The institute offers 114 MBBS seats annually (17 All India Quota via MCC + 97 State Quota), approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC) for AY 2024–25. ANIIMS Teaching Hospital, integrated with G.B. Pant Hospital, provides 24 specialty and 5 super-specialty services including Cardiology, Nephrology, Pediatric Surgery, Pulmonary Medicine, and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. The Dudhline campus spans 107 acres and houses 22 departments, modern hostels, a student-run mess, sports facilities, and faculty residences.
