Babu Banarasi Das Institute of Technology and Management (BBDITM), Lucknow, formerly known as Babu Banarasi Das National Institute of Technology and Management (BBDNITM), is a private engineering and management institute established in 1998 under the Babu Banarasi Das Educational Society. The society is named after Late Babu Banarasi Das Ji, a former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, and is registered with the Uttar Pradesh Government. The institute is located at Sector-I, Dr. Akhilesh Das Nagar, Ayodhya Road, Lucknow, and carries AKTU Institute Code 054. BBDITM is affiliated to Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow, and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). In 2023, three of its departments - Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, and Information Technology - received National Board of Accreditation (NBA) status for a period of 3 years starting session 2023-24, which reflects the quality of curriculum, faculty and outcomes in these programmes. The institute offers a wide academic portfolio at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. At the B.Tech level, BBDITM runs eight branches: Computer Science and Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering (Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning), Computer Science and Engineering (Data Science), Information Technology, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, each of 4 years' duration spread over 8 semesters. Admission to these programmes is based on qualifying 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with one optional subject, and counselling is conducted through UPTAC (Uttar Pradesh Technical Admission Counselling). At the postgraduate level, the institute offers a 2-year M.Tech in Production Engineering and a 2-year MBA with specializations in Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management, Production & Operations Management, and General Management. As per the AICTE-approved intake for the 2025-26 academic session, BBDITM's total sanctioned strength stood at 849 seats across B.Tech (840 seats) and M.Tech (9 seats), in addition to 120 MBA seats. Campus infrastructure at BBDITM includes 77 laboratories, 45 classrooms, 11 tutorial rooms, a computer centre, a language laboratory, 2 drawing halls, a well-stocked central library with more than 2,00,000 books and journals, an auditorium and 3 seminar halls. The Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta Sports Stadium on campus can accommodate over 20,000 spectators and supports both indoor games (table tennis, chess, badminton, snooker, billiards) and outdoor sports (volleyball, basketball, cricket, hockey, lawn tennis, football). In-campus hostel accommodation is available for over 2,000 boys and 1,000 girls, supported by a student mall, cafeteria, gymnasium, and an on-campus Punjab National Bank branch with 24x7 ATM access. BBDITM has a dedicated Training & Placement cell that works with recruiters across IT, banking, and core engineering sectors, and past batches have seen placements with companies such as TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Capgemini, ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank. The institute also encourages student participation through professional societies and clubs such as IEEE, ACM, Google Developers Club, Robotics Club and Sports Club, and hosts its annual flagship fest, Utkarsh, along with technical events, workshops and industry expert talks throughout the academic year.
