BSTIMSR was established by Prof. (Dr.) Balvir S. Tomar — a globally renowned pediatric gastroenterologist, founder of NIMS University Jaipur (set up in 2004), visiting professor at Harvard and King's College London, International President of World Health Summit 2025, and the founder of the World Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology (1995). He organized the first International World Congress of Paediatric Gastroenterology in 1995. The college is named in his honor.

As per the official AY 2025-26 fee notification issued by Rajasthan authorities: AIQ seats — ₹19,25,000 per year; Management Quota — ₹32,85,000 per year. No NRI quota exists in Rajasthan private medical colleges. All fees are subject to Rajasthan Fee Determination Committee revision.

BSTIMSR has 150 MBBS seats per year for AY 2025-26 as per NMC approval. All seats are filled through the Rajasthan NEET UG Medical & Dental Admission/Counselling Board. State/Category-A Quota approximately 128 seats (85%) and Management Quota approximately 22 seats (15%).

BSTIMSR's teaching hospital has over 1,400 total beds (with 650+ currently functional teaching beds), 80+ ICU beds, and 40+ medical specialties including Neurosciences, Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Oncology, Nephrology, Urology, IVF, Critical Care, and Bone & Joint Replacement. The hospital is approved for Bhamashah Yojana, BPL Chief Minister Scheme, and Janani Suraksha Yojana.
