Bharatratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical College (BAVMC), Pune is the first medical college of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), established through a joint initiative of PMC and PMC-MET (Medical Education Trust) in 2022. Named after former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the college received its Letter of Permission from the National Medical Commission (NMC) for AY 2021-22 and is affiliated to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik. The college is spread across a 38-acre campus and currently offers 100 MBBS seats. It is attached to the Kamla Nehru Hospital (KNH), a 400-bed multispecialty hospital run by PMC located at Mangalwar Peth, Pune, which serves as the primary teaching hospital. The college focuses on faculty development, a Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) curriculum, research, and an innovative teaching-learning environment. As a government (municipal corporation) college, the MBBS fees are regulated by the Fees Regulating Authority (FRA) of Maharashtra and are significantly affordable compared to private colleges. Yes. BAVMC Pune is a government medical college established and managed by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) through PMC-MET (Medical Education Trust). It is the first medical college of PMC. MBBS fees are very affordable at INR 1,03,000 per year as regulated by the Maharashtra FRA.
BAVMC Pune has 100 MBBS seats per year. 85 seats are under Maharashtra State Quota (CET Cell) and 15 seats are under All India Quota (MCC). As a municipal corporation college, there is no management or NRI quota.
