About Bhaskar Medical College and Bhaskar General Hospital, Yenkapally
Bhaskar Medical College and Bhaskar General Hospital, Yenkapally (BMC) is a well-established private medical institution founded in 2005 in Yenkapally Village, Moinabad Mandal, Ranga Reddy District, Hyderabad, Telangana. The college is recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, with annual renewal permission granted for 150 MBBS seats for AY 2024-25. It is affiliated with Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), Warangal (previously under NTR University of Health Sciences). The Dean and Principal is Dr. M Narsing Rao. BMC's mission is to provide medical education with an Esthetic Outlook, Scientific Approach, and Personal Touch — nurturing future doctors with communication skills, computer applications exposure, and a strong ethical foundation. The college implements the NMC-mandated Competency Based Medical Education (CBME) curriculum and has an active Medical Education Unit (MEU) for continuous faculty development. The campus of BMC spans a large area in Yenkapally and is equipped with six fully air-conditioned lecture halls — Lecture Hall 1 in the pre-clinical block for first-year students, Lecture Halls 2 and 3 in the para-clinical block for second-year students, and Lecture Halls 4, 5, and 6 located near Bhaskar General Hospital for final year students. A grand auditorium with a capacity of 850 is located on the second floor of a dedicated auditorium building, catering for college day celebrations and major academic events. Dedicated CME halls have been developed in every department for regular PG continuing medical education. The Central Library is housed in a separate building and provides a serene academic environment. It houses 15,552 books, 95 Indian journals, 48 foreign journals, and more than 2,725 online journals, along with 500 online books. The library is open from 8 AM to 10 PM daily, and until midnight during examination periods. The Medlar system provides a 24-hour e-library with 42 dedicated terminals for undergraduate, postgraduate students, and staff. Nirantar is a 24-hour reading room available to students. All departments of the institution additionally have their own departmental libraries. Bhaskar General Hospital, the attached teaching hospital, is one of the key pillars of clinical training at BMC. The hospital provides 24x7 emergency, casualty, and in-patient services across all major specialties. All residents of the campus — students, interns, PGs, nurses, and teaching and non-teaching staff — receive free medical treatment including inpatient admission and round-the-clock free investigative services. Ambulance services are also available free of cost. The hospital has a significant OPD turnover and provides extensive clinical exposure to MBBS students and PG residents. For MBBS (UG), the 150 seats are distributed as: Category A (Competent Authority / Government Quota) = 50% (approximately 75 seats) at Rs.60,000/year; Category B (Management Quota) = 35% (approximately 52 seats) at Rs.11,55,000/year; and Category C (NRI Quota) = 15% (approximately 23 seats) at Rs.23,10,000/year. The batch starts from 1st August every year. The course spans 4.5 years of study followed by 1 year of internship in the same institute. For PG (MD/MS), BMC offers 85 total seats across 15 specialties for AY 2025-26 as per the official Status of Course page. These include all major Medical Group degrees, Surgery Group degrees, and Non-Clinical Group degrees. PG admission is through NEET-PG scores via KNRUHS Telangana centralized PG counselling. PG admissions for 2025-26 are currently active with documents listed on the official website. The residential facilities at BMC are comprehensive: separate UG MBBS girls' hostel and boys' hostel with mess and 24-hour security; PG hostel with mess; staff quarters for faculty; staff quarters for senior and junior residents; non-teaching staff quarters; and a nursing hostel — making BMC a fully self-contained academic township. BMC also provides a distinctive initiative: free compulsory self-defense training for first-year girl students (one hour weekly during college hours), which is noted as one of its kind in the country. Free yoga classes by an expert instructor are also provided after college hours for all staff and students. The sports facilities include courts for basketball, volleyball, tennicoit, throw ball, and badminton; a cricket ground; a football field; a 200m athletic track with shot put, high jump, javelin, and discus throw areas; indoor games area (table tennis, caroms, chess); and separate gymnasiums for boys and girls. BMC has an active alumni network, conducts regular CPD programmes, CMEs, research activities, and co-curricular activities throughout the year. The college encourages student participation in sports, cultural events, and community health programs. The institution is committed to the pursuit of academic excellence, compassionate patient care, and social responsibility.
