Birsa Munda Government Medical College (GMC), Shahdol, established in 2018, is a full-fledged tertiary government medical college in the tribal-dominated Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh. Named after legendary tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda, the college is affiliated with Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University (MPMSU), Jabalpur, and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC). It admits 100 MBBS students annually and also offers nursing and paramedical courses. The attached teaching hospital — Shri Kushabhau Thackeray District Hospital, Shahdol — has 300 teaching beds (120 medicine & allied, 140 surgery & allied, 40 OBG) with 24-hour emergency services, round-the-clock laboratory services, and advanced radiology including digital CT scan and MRI.
