B.K.L. Walawalkar Rural Medical College (BKLWRMC), Ratnagiri, was inaugurated on 1st September 2015 by Shri Vithalrao Joshi Charities Trust (SVJCT) at Kasarwadi (Sawarde village), approximately 16 km from Chiplun on the Mumbai-Goa highway. Named after Bhaktashreshtha Kamalakarpant Laxman Walawalkar โ€” a noted social reformer and founder of SVJCT โ€” the college is affiliated to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik, and approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC). BKLWRMC is NABH, NABL, and NAAC accredited, and offers MBBS (150 seats) and postgraduate MD/MS programmes across 9 disciplines (41 seats). The 44.07-acre campus has 3 air-conditioned gallery-type lecture halls (120-student capacity each), modern laboratories, a central library with 8,600+ books and 13,000 journals (1,300 internet-accessible), and separate boys' and girls' hostels. The attached B.K.L.
