About BMS Institute of Technology and Management

BMS Institute of Technology and Management (BMSIT&M), located in Yelahanka, Bengaluru, is a well-regarded private autonomous engineering institution established in 2002 under the aegis of the BMS Educational Trust — an institution founded by Sri B M Sreenivasaiah and his son Sri B S Narayan. The BMS legacy in education dates back decades, making BMSIT&M part of a celebrated educational family that also includes the prestigious BMS College of Engineering. Affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, and approved by AICTE, UGC, NAAC (A grade), NBA, and NABL, BMSIT&M has steadily grown into one of the leading engineering colleges in Bengaluru. Situated on a lush, eco-friendly 22-acre campus on the Doddaballapur Main Road in Avalahalli, Yelahanka, the institute is known for its green environment — students and faculty fondly describe the campus's natural character, with its dense vegetation and even resident monkeys. The campus houses modern academic blocks with LCD-equipped smart classrooms, well-equipped departmental laboratories, a large central library with digital resources, hostels for boys and girls, a cafeteria, indoor and outdoor sports facilities, and reliable college bus service connecting the campus to key areas of Bengaluru. BMSIT&M offers B.E. programs across 9 specializations, making it one of the more comprehensive offerings among private engineering colleges in Karnataka. The flagship programs are B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Information Science and Engineering (ISE), and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML), which attract the most competitive students and deliver strong placement outcomes. The institute also offers B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Business Systems (CSBS), and Computer Science and Engineering (Data Science). At the postgraduate level, BMSIT&M offers M.Tech (multiple specializations), MBA, MCA, and M.Sc (Engineering). PhD programs are also available in engineering and sciences. Admission to B.E. programs is primarily through KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority) and COMEDK UGET (Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka). For 2024, the KCET closing rank for B.E. CSE was 14,796 (Round 2), and the COMEDK closing rank for CSE was 12,938 (Round 3). AIML had a KCET closing rank of 16,017 (Extended Round 2) and COMEDK closing rank of approximately 22,000. The total B.E. intake at BMSIT&M is 1,080 seats across all nine branches. PG admissions (M.Tech, MBA, MCA) are through Karnataka PGCET and GATE. The Training and Placement Cell (TPC) at BMSIT&M is one of the most active placement cells among private engineering colleges in Bengaluru. The cell conducts comprehensive pre-placement training from the first year, covering aptitude, technical skills, communication, and interview preparation. In 2025 (2024-25 placement season), 663 students were placed from 901 job offers, achieving a placement rate of approximately 73%. The highest package was INR 46.7 LPA, the average package was INR 8.97 LPA, and the median package was INR 6.20 LPA. In 2023, the placement rate was 93.24% with 768 students placed. The institute hosts 272+ companies for campus recruitment. BMSIT&M maintains over 55 MoUs with industries and research organisations including EC Council (Academic Partner for cybersecurity), Vidyashilp Community Trust (VCT), Co-Create Ventures, and various technology companies. The institute is part of the BMS family of institutions, giving it strong brand recognition in the Bengaluru technology ecosystem. In national rankings, NIRF 2024 placed BMSIT&M in the 201–300 band in Engineering, and Collegedunia ranked it 259th in Engineering in 2025. IIRF 2024 ranked it 97th and Outlook ICARE 2024 ranked it 99th among top private engineering institutes in India. The institute is consistently recognized as one of the top 5 engineering colleges in Bengaluru and among the best private engineering colleges in Karnataka.
