About Department of Design, IIT Hyderabad
IIT Hyderabad is now a place of excellence in terms of top-level placements and internship, attracting multinational behemoths as well as new age startups. Though the 2025 placement report is not available officially yet, past data depicts a strong trend uniformly. During 2024, the mean package was INR 20 LPA, and the leading recruiters were Microsoft, Google, Intel, Qualcomm, Oracle, and Texas Instruments. The 2023 peak package reached INR 63.78 LPA and averaged out at INR 20.07 LPA. IITH's Career Development Center plays a major role in refining the students through resume workshops, mock interviews, and career counseling sessions. Internship opportunities and research-based internships are encouraged by the institution through various schemes such as IITH-SURE that offers exposure to students through faculties. 2025 IITH-SURE internship results have just been announced, and many students avail research internships overseas as well. Industrial relations are strongly established in many departments, especially in fields like AI, Robotics, and Advanced Manufacturing. The Joint Centre for Advanced Manufacturing (AMRIT) and other infrastructures offer on-the-job experience with state-of-the-art technology and experiential learning. Entrepreneurship is another focus area at IITH, aided by i-TIC Foundation, the incubation facility that provides funding, mentoring, and startup support. Students also participate at the national and international levels; recently, an IITH team ranked 2nd among Indian teams at the CIEDS-DRDO Swarm Rescue Challenge in Paris. All of this is directed toward establishing IITH as a place of both academic and professional excellence.
