Dhanvantari Ayurveda College & Hospital, Koydam, Mahisagar, was established in 2014-15 under Shree Ram Charitable Trust, founded by Dr. Vasudev R. Rami, a well-known Ayurveda physician and social worker in the region with over 35 years of medical service experience. The college was established with the motto of serving people of backward rural areas by providing accessible health services and education, addressing a gap in Ayurveda education that existed across the neighboring districts of Dahod, Panchmahal, Mahisagar, Aravalli, and Sabarkantha at the time of its founding. The institute is affiliated to Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar, and recognized by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), offering the undergraduate BAMS programme across thirteen well-structured academic departments including Samhita & Maulik Siddhant, Kriya Sharir, Rachna Sharir, Dravyaguna, Ras Shastra evam Bhashajya Kalpana, Roga Nidan evam Vikriti Vigyan, Swasthavritta & Yoga, Agadatantram, Stree Roga evam Prasuti Tantram, Kayachikitsa, Shalya Tantra, Shalakya Tantra, Kaumarbhritya (Balroga), and Panchakarma. The sprawling campus includes an attached hospital, a research laboratory, hostel facilities for both boys and girls (combined capacity of 120 beds), a canteen, an auditorium, a herbal garden, and a playground. Classrooms are well-ventilated, spacious, and equipped with audio-visual teaching aids, supported by a library with an extensive collection of books and journals, a digital library with internet access, and a herbal garden housing a diverse collection of plant species including endangered ones. Each academic department maintains its own dedicated museum and departmental library, alongside a well-equipped dissection theatre. The college is co-educational and has been guiding students through the Ayush NEET counselling process under ACPUGMEC for admission to its BAMS programme.
