About Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Medical College
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Medical College (BRAMC), Bangalore, is a private medical college established in 1980 by the Ananda Social and Educational Trust — founded by committed Scheduled Caste intellectuals and philanthropists with a mission to uplift SC, ST, and underprivileged communities. Named in honour of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Father of the Indian Constitution, the college embodies compassion and selfless service. The 25-acre campus in Kadugondanahalli, Bangalore, houses a Medical College, a 600+ bedded teaching hospital, School of Nursing, Paramedical Institute (Physiotherapy, Medical Laboratory Technology, Radiography), and Dental College. Affiliated with RGUHS and approved by the NMC, BRAMC offers MBBS (150 seats) and MD/MS postgraduate programs (74 seats in 18 departments since 1992). Over 3,000 students have graduated from the institution, serving as skilled doctors across the globe. The college features smart classrooms, a digital resource centre, a central research lab, high-tech departmental labs, and a central library with Indian and foreign journals. The attached hospital operates 7 major and 2 minor operation theatres, dedicated ICUs, NICUs, and diagnostic labs serving a large section of economically weaker communities.
