About Dr. Moopen's Medical College
Dr. Moopen's Medical College (formerly DMWIMS — DM Wayanad Institute of Medical Sciences) is a premier private medical institution located in Naseera Nagar, Meppadi, Wayanad, Kerala. Founded in 2013 by the DM Education and Research Foundation under the leadership of Padma Shri Dr. Azad Moopen — founder of Aster DM Healthcare — it is the first medical college established in Kerala's backward, hilly, and tribal district of Wayanad. It is also the first medical college hospital in North Kerala and among the very few rural medical colleges in India to receive NABH accreditation. Spread across a lush 50-acre eco-friendly campus, the college is affiliated with Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS), Thrissur, and approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC). The attached multi-specialty teaching hospital has 700+ beds with modular OTs, well-equipped ICUs, and advanced diagnostic facilities. The institution also houses a Research & Innovation wing (Dr. Moopen's iNest — India's first BIRAC BioNEST in a standalone medical college), along with a College of Pharmacy and a Nursing College.
