The institution was founded by Dr. Ravi B. Patil, MBBS, MS (Ortho) — an orthopaedic surgeon and social entrepreneur who established the Vijaya Ortho and Trauma Centre in 1999, followed by a poly clinic, Vijaya Nursing Home, Gurudevo Bhava Pratishtan (charitable trust), Vijaya Institute of Paramedical Sciences, and various rural healthcare camp programmes across the Belagavi region. The college is managed by the Dr. Ravi Patil Health and Education Society.

The college is led by Principal Dr. Sachin Annappa Pattanshetti, BAMS, MS, PhD (Registration No. 24350), who joined the institution on 28 January 2023.
