About Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI), Noida
Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI) was set up by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, in 1986 as a premier academic and training institution dedicated to the footwear, leather products, retail and fashion design sectors. Because of its continuous contribution to nation-building, FDDI has been granted the status of an 'Institution of National Importance' under the FDDI Act, 2017 — a statutory status that empowers the Institute to award its own degrees, diplomas and certificates, with the President of India serving as its Visitor. Today, FDDI has a pan-India presence across 12 state-of-the-art campuses, and its Noida campus, established the same year as the Institute itself, functions as the founding and headquarters campus.

FDDI's academic offering is organised into four schools: the School of Footwear Design & Production, the School of Fashion Design, the School of Leather Goods & Accessories Design, and the School of Retail & Fashion Merchandise. Each school runs both Bachelor's and Master's level programmes that combine design foundation training with technical, managerial and industry-project components, culminating in dissertations, portfolios or research projects in the final year.

Admission to every programme is through the FDDI All India Selection Test (FDDI-AIST), a national-level design and general aptitude examination followed by centralised counselling; UCEED/CEED scores are also accepted for select design programmes as per institute norms.

Student life on campus is supported by separate in-campus hostels for boys (capacity 350) and girls (capacity 200), an in-campus mess ('Rasoi'), a sports complex with tennis, basketball and badminton courts, a fully air-conditioned auditorium, and an open-air amphitheatre for cultural and creative events.
